The Director of SEC Reporting is responsible for all financial SEC filings (e.g., Form 10-Q, Form 10-K) while ensuring they are timely, complete and accurate, and that our external financial audit goes smoothly. The Director of SEC Reporting is responsible for researching and ensuring that we account for new business activities or special transactions in accordance with GAAP accounting rules. The Director of SEC Reporting is also responsible for statutory reporting, and coordinating with various accounting service providers.


Job Responsibilities



  • Ensures accurate internal and external financial reporting.

  • Ensures no restatements.

  • Helps ensure smooth, predictable, on-time and accurate monthly closes, including the management of our international accounting monthly close activities.

  • Ensure all financial SEC filings (e.g., Form 10-Q, Form 10-K) are timely, complete and accurate, and in accordance with GAAP accounting rules and SEC requirements.

  • Ensure quarterly audit/review goes smoothly and accurately (no amendments to filings), and timely (all filings on time, 10-Q filings within 30 calendar days, 10-K filing within 60 calendar days). Manage process closely with timelines and clear deliverables.

  • Monitor new business activities for special accounting and reporting needs, do GAAP research and document accounting policy and process requirements.

  • Publish quarterly memos on accounting matters affecting the period.

  • Publish a quarterly memo on potential impact of upcoming new accounting pronouncements.

  • Respond effectively to SEC comment letters if any, minimizing comments, avoiding amendments or restatements.

  • Manage staff effectively - producing high productivity and quality work, with good morale and low voluntary turnover. Review and approve staff work. Conduct 1 on 1s with staff.



  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by manager and upper management.

  • Follow legal policies as directed.


Job Requirements



  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP accounting rules

  • Advanced knowledge of SEC filing requirements for financial filings (e.g., Form 10-Q, Form 10-K)

  • 8
    years accounting experience, including public accounting experience and SEC filing experience


Skills



  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel


Education



  • BA/BS in Accounting or related field


Certifications

  • CPA
