Job Description:
The Email Marketing Strategist is part of an industry-leading database marketing program responsible for cultivating the customer lifecycle by building and automating push/pull marketing campaign directives in order to reach departmental goals. This role is dedicated, but not limited, to automated email marketing initiatives. The Email Marketing Strategist will provide support to the Manager of Marketing Automation, Director of Database Marketing and VP of Marketing. This position will provide technical and operational recommendations to improve the marketing automation program.
What you would do:
- Understand daily operations, systems, and data related to Overstock.com's email program
- Manage and develop automated email campaigns
- Work closely with other teams to build out automated email campaigns
- Work closely with development teams to further the email department's efficiency
- Work closely with SMEs of third party applications and other departments to maintain and improve the email program
- Provide valuable long term strategy for continued growth
- Work with email team in order to optimize campaigns by monitoring email campaigns, analyzing results and collaborating with team members
- Responsible for report creation with analysis on ad-hoc and recurring schedules
- Create customer segmentation scripts and use data modeling tools (KXEN preferred) to optimize segmentation, personalization, and engagement of email marketing and direct mail campaigns
- Create custom and complex SQL queries to pull data for personalized, ad-hoc, and automated campaigns
- Coordinate with Database Application Administrators and Marketing Analytics to build customer segmentation and personalization in respective applications
Must Have's:
- 3
years of Direct Marketing experience - 2
years of Email Marketing experience - 2
years of free hand (expert) SQL experience (preferred) - Experience with Oracle Responsys (preferred) or other enterprise level ESP/CRM tool
- Degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Supply Chain Management, Systems Engineering, or equivalent
- Act as the product manager over multiple pieces of the marketing automation program as it adheres to the Email Automation channel. Product management duties include managing deadlines and priorities, writing requirements, scoping new projects/features, cross-department collaboration, project management
more. - Strong financial and analytical skills, detail oriented, solid business sense, and good problem solving abilities
- Experience or familiarity with relational databases and statistical data analysis - intermediate to strong skills in SQL
- Business savvy and strategically focused on improvement and optimization
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to learn quickly and work efficiently in a fast paced environment
- Must be able to handle operational schedules and production work
